Brake pad FAQ.
How long do brake pads typically last in India?
Front brake pads last 45,000–110,000 km, rear pads 65,000–130,000 km. Dense city driving wears pads 2–3× faster than highway driving. Performance pads on sports cars may only last 25,000–40,000 km.
What are the signs brake pads need replacing?
Squealing when braking (wear indicator), grinding metal-on-metal sound (pads worn through), reduced braking performance, vibration when braking, or your brake warning light coming on. Don't wait for these - check pad thickness at every service, roughly every 10,000 km.
Should I replace all 4 brake pads at once?
At minimum, replace both pads on the same axle (both fronts or both rears) at the same time for even braking. Many mechanics recommend doing all 4 if rear pads are also low. Front pads wear faster in most cars - check them first.
