When should I replace my tyres?
Most tyre manufacturers and safety advisories recommend replacing tyres at or before 1.6 mm tread depth - the wear-bar level used internationally, including in India. Many safety-conscious drivers replace earlier, around 3 mm, especially before the monsoon when wet-road grip matters most.
How long do tyres typically last in India?
Most passenger car tyres last 40,000–90,000 km depending on quality, driving style, wheel alignment, and inflation. Tyres also age regardless of use - rubber degrades after 5–7 years in Indian heat, so replace tyres older than that even if tread looks fine.
Does driving style affect tyre wear?
Significantly. Hard acceleration and braking in city stop-and-go traffic can cut tyre life noticeably. Correct inflation is the single biggest factor - underinflated tyres wear faster on the outer edges; overinflated tyres wear in the centre. Rotate every 8,000–10,000 km for even wear.
